COMETIC, CYLINDER HEAD GASKETS 3-7/8" BORE .030" MLS
MLS (Multi Layer Steel). Front & rear gasket for one engine. 3-7/8" (3.875") fits 88" to 95"(1550cc) big bore conversions and is standard size for 103" OEM H-D engines. Will not fit 103" Twin Cooled models. Stock Twin Cam gasket is approx. .043" thick. MLS (Multi Layer Steel) explained: MLS consists of a top and bottom layer of embossed stainless steel with both side coated with 250°C high temperature polymer rubber layer. The inner ring(s) are also stainless steel. The gasket layers are rivited together, outside the gasket surface, for ease of installation. The outer layers are embossed and both sides coated with a 250°C resitant polymer rubber layer. MLS head gaskets eliminate the use of dowel pin o-rings, when in use.

Ideal for aluminum heads to aluminum blocks and aluminum heads to cast iron blocks withstanding the shearing force created by the two materials.
No need to re-torque, the embossing design of the MLS gasket promotes an even clamp load across the sealing surface allowing for measurable reduced bore distortion.
Cometic MLS Gaskets are comprized of multiple layers of stainless steel due to it's increased strength, ability to rebound and resistance to corrosion.
The outer layers of the gaskets are embossed and coated on both sides with Viton - a flouroelastomer rubber based material that is heat resistant to 250°C /482ºF. Viton is designed to meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions, and surface finishes.

The center or shim layer is uncoated stainless steel layer which can be varied to accommodate multiple thickness requirements.
